DataStax Acquires DataScale, Unveils Plans for DataStax Managed Cloud

DataStax announced the acquisition of DataScale, a provider of cloud-based management services for data infrastructure. DataStax also announced the forthcoming availability of DataStax Managed Cloud, a fully-managed database service. DataStax Managed Cloud will be available in early 2017 on Amazon Web Services, followed by other popular public cloud providers.
Introducing DataStax Managed Cloud
Built on the industry-leading scalability and performance of the DataStax Enterprise (DSE) software platform, DataStax Managed Cloud will provide customers with the full capabilities of DSE in a managed cloud service. Customers will be able to easily exploit their hybrid cloud datacenter plans with DSE acting as the common data layer for their cloud applications, whether deployed on-premise, in public cloud infrastructure, or in any hybrid configuration. The acquisition of DataScale brings both technology and industry expertise to DataStax that will make DataStax Managed Cloud a truly transformative offering.
The new DataStax Managed Cloud offering will include: automated best-practices and operations; monitoring by DataStax world-class experts; automated and manual provisioning and scaling; and, custom system configuration and tuning to meet customer’s specific application and architectural requirements.
With this new offering customers will have the ability to choose flexible implementation and management models based on their requirements. Customers can self-manage DSE using its automated management services and OpsCenter product; or choose a comprehensive, cloud-based, DataStax-managed solution with DataStax Managed Cloud. For anything in between, DataStax can assist with a wide array of Professional Services expertise and packages. Combined, these flexible offerings meet customers wherever they are in their datacenter and cloud strategies, both today and in the future.
Availability:
DataStax will offer customers the opportunity to enroll in the DataStax Managed Cloud beta program starting in early 2017.
