Proofpoint Partners with the Global Cyber Alliance to Combat Cybercrime
November 2016 by Marc Jacob
Proofpoint is pleased to announce its partnership with the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA). Founded in 2015 by the New York County District Attorney’s Office, the City of London Police, and the Center for Internet Security, GCA’s mission is to confront, address and prevent malicious cyber activity.
One initiative core to both Proofpoint and GCA’s strategic priorities is encouraging the adoption of the DMARC (domain-based message authentication reporting and conformance) standard to fight today’s sophisticated business email compromise (BEC) and consumer phishing scams. In fact, studies consistently find that 90-95 percent of today’s advanced attacks involve email.
As advanced threats increase in frequency and sophistication, it’s never been more important to secure your organization’s email. Targeted phishing attacks that do not include a payload (that is, a URL or attachment) are more difficult to detect. These attacks steal corporate identities and use spoofed email addresses to trick enterprise users. A leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Secure Email Gateways for seven consecutive years, Proofpoint was one of the first vendors to check the authenticity of the email sender with DMARC.
