InCyber Forum 2026 took place in Lille from March 31st to April 2nd, and Cyril VanAgt, VP Channel EMEA at Keepit, had an interview with Global Security Mag.

Global Security Mag: Can you introduce yourself and tell us how your professional background led you to your current role?

Cyril VanAgt: I am VP Channel EMEA at Keepit, where I lead the development of our partner ecosystem across the region. My career has been built around cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and channel development. I have worked in various international environments, which has allowed me to closely observe the digital transformation of organizations and, above all, the new dependencies it creates.
What naturally led me to Keepit is the conviction that data is now the most critical asset for organizations, and that its protection can no longer be left solely to service providers. My role is to support our partners in bringing this vision to European companies.

Global Security Mag: What will be your focus at the InCyber Forum 2026?

Cyril VanAgt: we highlight the need to take the next step: moving from SaaS adoption to a true operational recovery capability.
We present the findings of our Keepit Annual Data Report 2026, which is based not on declarations, but on real backup and restore data. This data shows that organizations actively use their backups, but that their recovery capability is still under development, particularly for large-scale scenarios.
It is also an opportunity to demonstrate concretely how to turn backup into a reliable and repeatable recovery capability.

Global Security Mag: What are the strengths of the solutions you will present on this occasion?

Cyril VanAgt: our main differentiator is that we are the only independent, cloud-native provider fully dedicated to SaaS data protection.
But beyond technology, our strength lies in our recovery-focused approach. Our solutions enable granular restoration which is essential, as 90% of the restores observed in our report concern individual files as well as large-scale recovery.
Above all, we support organizations in structuring their recovery practices, because the data shows that resilience does not rely solely on tools, but on the ability to test, repeat, and validate processes under real conditions.

Global Security Mag: This year, the InCyber Forum will focus on “Mastering our digital dependencies.” What is your analysis of this topic?

Cyril VanAgt: it is a key topic, and it directly reflects what we observe in the field.
The debate around digital sovereignty in Europe often remains focused on data hosting. But our data shows that the real dependency lies elsewhere: in the ability or inability to recover data when something goes wrong.
Today, we depend on a limited number of cloud infrastructures, with a very real domino effect in the event of an outage. But even more interestingly, when these major incidents occur, they do not lead to a significant increase in recovery testing. This shows that there is still a gap between risk awareness and actual practice. Mastering dependencies therefore primarily means being able to restore your data, independently of your provider.

Global Security Mag: How do your solutions address this issue?

Cyril VanAgt: we address this issue by giving organizations autonomous recovery capabilities.
SaaS has introduced a major blind spot: many organizations believe that application security covers data protection. What our data shows is that the most frequent incidents are quite simple, such as file loss or human error, while the most critical scenarios, particularly around identity systems, are still insufficiently tested.
For example, identity systems are tested four times less often than productivity tools, even though they control access to all other applications.
Our approach is therefore to secure these blind spots, but above all to enable organizations to regularly test and validate their recovery capabilities, because practice is what builds resilience.

Global Security Mag: How should technologies (AI / Quantum, etc.) evolve to help master digital dependencies?

Cyril VanAgt: AI has an important role to play, particularly in analyzing behaviors, detecting anomalies, or prioritizing restores in the event of an incident. But it must go beyond detection to help orchestrate recovery.
What our report shows is that maturity comes from repetition and the structuring of processes. Technologies must therefore help automate recovery testing, guide teams, and make these processes repeatable.
Regarding quantum, the challenges will mainly concern data security and cryptography. But here again, the priority is to ensure that organizations retain control over their data and their ability to restore it.

Global Security Mag: What message would you like to convey to CISOs, DPOs, CIOs, and cybersecurity leaders?

Cyril VanAgt: Backup is essential, but without recovery capability, it loses all its value. Our data shows that 9 out of 10 companies have already validated large-scale restores, which is very positive. But it also shows that many organizations remain at an early stage, focusing mainly on individual file restores.
Resilience is built through practice. It is necessary to test regularly, simulate real scenarios, and ensure that the right data can be restored, in the right order, at the right time. Today, mastering digital dependencies means being able to regain control when everything else fails.
