GeoGuard and Skyhook have announced a collaboration

GeoGuard, the Vancouver-based geo-location piracy prevention experts and Skyhook, the world’s behavioural location intelligence company, have announced a collaboration to provide the content industry with the first solution that ensures viewers are verifiably watching films and TV at home.
With 32% of consumers admitting to pirating movies, TV shows and sports, the home is a rife source for video piracy – and with new services entering the market (like the recently launched Screening Room that aims to offer early release and cinema release films to viewers at home), tools that accurately detect geo-location fraud are set to become increasingly important for protecting digital content rights.
By enabling content distributors to verify that content is being watched at home, this new solution provides a critical element of security required by movie studios before movies launch simultaneously in theatres and in the home.
