SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker located in a guest system can use Virtual PMU of Xen,
in order to escalate his privileges on the host system.
Impacted products: Xen.
Severity: 2/4.
Creation date: 24/11/2015.
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Xen product can be configured with vpmu (Virtual Performance
Measurement Unit).
However, this feature is not conceived for production, and can be
used to perform a denial of service or to escalate privileges.
An attacker located in a guest system can therefore use Virtual
PMU of Xen, in order to escalate his privileges on the host system.
