Vigil@nce - Xen: integer overflow of XSM/Flask
February 2014 by Vigil@nce
This bulletin was written by Vigil@nce : http://vigilance.fr/offer
SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker can generate an integer overflow in XSM/Flask of Xen,
in order to trigger a denial of service, and possibly to execute
code.
Impacted products: Fedora, Unix (platform)
Severity: 2/4
Creation date: 06/02/2014
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Xen product can be compiled with the support of XSM (Xen
Security Module). The FLASK (Flux Advanced Security Kernel) module
implements a Mandatory Access Control.
However, if parameters of FLASK_GETBOOL, FLASK_SETBOOL, FLASK_USER
or FLASK_CONTEXT_TO_SID are too large, a multiplication overflows,
and an allocated memory area is too short.
An attacker can therefore generate an integer overflow in
XSM/Flask of Xen, in order to trigger a denial of service, and
possibly to execute code.
