January 2014 by Vigil@nce
This bulletin was written by Vigil@nce : http://vigilance.fr/offer
SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
A local attacker can use an ioctl, in order to read bytes coming
from the Linux kernel memory, in order to obtain sensitive
information.
– Impacted products: Linux
– Severity: 1/4
– Creation date: 14/01/2014
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The yam_ioctl() function implements ioctls for the
drivers/net/hamradio/yam.c driver.
However, it does not initialize all fields of the structure which
is returned to the user.
A local attacker can therefore use an ioctl, in order to read
bytes coming from the Linux kernel memory, in order to obtain
sensitive information.
