Toward a positive energy Datacenter?

November 2016 by Marc Jacob

JERLAURE is launching a range of very high energy efficient Datacenters1 tailored to the regional proximity market. Taking the opportunity of this new product launch, JERLAURE will host a conference during the Datacenter World convention that will take place in Paris next 29th and the 30th of November.

A very high energy efficient Datacenter designed by JERLAURE

The data processing from connected objects is growing regularly and exponentially and needs a very low latency time and a high data processing speed. So, in the current changing context, it is essential and urgent to provide a proximity hosting.

Datacenters, although they are essential to answer to these news stakes, represent about 4% of the worldwide energy consumption, with an annual growth of 5%. These important energetic needs, which represents 30% to 50% of the operational cost of a datacenter, are due to fact that the electricity consumed by IT equipment is mainly turned into heat by the Joule effect.

Knowing these facts, aiming toward a positive energy Datacenter take on its full meaning. It is exactly the strategic direction that JERLAURE chose for several years, anticipating the current trend which was confirmed on the global market.

Therefore, JERLAURE is launching its new range of very high energy efficient proximity Datacenter, based on renewable energies and waste heat reuse
The main characteristics are:

› Capacity between 80 to 400 server cabinets
› TIER 3
› Global PUE below 1.15 at mid-load

Putting aside technical aspects, the cooling system is extremely performant.
Indeed, it uses renewable energies and is based on use of direct solar source or wasted heat – such as a gas power generator for instance.
This patented range of datacenters is based on the optimization of an intelligent concept, adjustable to all types of operational reality.

Finally, it meets economic and cost criteria, which is a sensitive topic especially in co-ownership cases where one of the top priorities is sharing costs.

JERLAURE will deliver its first realization in July 2017 in the south of France, while continuing its expansion projects outside France such as Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Portugal; Greece, DOM TOM…
