Teamwork.com, the cloud-based business management applications company, have announced they are the first company of it’s kind to offer customers the option to host their data in the European Union, based on strong customer demand.
Teamwork.com have recently announced plans to hire 50 more staff for their Cork HQ, bringing their workforce to 120.
Since the European Court of Justice declared the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles invalid Teamwork.com have been listening to their customers’ concerns about having their data hosted in the US.
Although, some have their doubts about how stable the current Privacy Shield is and when it will be updated, this new framework lives up to the requirements of the European Court of Justice and Teamwork.com, who’s utmost priority is privacy, thought it necessary to at least offer their clients the choice of where to host their Data.
The news comes in the wake of the adoption of the EU-US Privacy Shield by the European Commission in July of this year. According to the Privacy Shield website, this new agreement aims to provide companies on both sides of the Atlantic with a mechanism to comply with EU data protection requirements when transferring data from the EU to the US. It offers:
• Strong data protection obligations on companies receiving personal data from the EU
• Safeguards on U.S. government access to data;
• Effective protection and redress for individuals;
• Annual joint review to monitor the implementation
