The airline Airpost Europe secures its workstations with RES Software

April 2012 by Marc Jacob

RES Software announces the deployment of its workspace management solutions within the airline Airpost Europe, a major French airline and member of the ASL Aviation international air services. Safety and regulatory compliance were key reasons for overhauling the organization’s infrastructure. The IT department of Europe Airpost must manage computer network access internal staff and to many different suppliers across multiple industries, including business administration, operations, catering, refueling and more. The high mobility of staff combined with the number of external entities accessing the organization’s network exposed a security risk.

A team of 10 IT professionals operates the network under the responsibility of Mr. Fabrice de Biasio, CIO of Europe Airpost. Their goal is to ensure high availability of information and continuity of service at any time. The infrastructure is based on technology from VMware Cloud. To manage user personalization and security contexts, Airpost Europe integrated RES Workspace Manager in April 2010.

RES Software allows Europe Airpost to introduce true standardization in the workplace, which is required in a regulatory approach and is in line with ITIL engagements. The integration of RES Workspace Manager was primarily used to provide secure access and manage connections to mobile devices. Additionally, every technology used in a cockpit computer should be reported to the ISB. RES Software manages this process in addition to changes to the print server, centralized management of network drives, and it gathers specific information about user sessions.

"RES Workspace Manager has enabled us to organize our own procedures based on our business needs while reducing response time on workstations, so we can now focus our efforts on strategic projects," says Laura Buino, Operations Manager & Telecom in Europe Airpost."The ease of use tool RES Software, the quality of support offered to our users and the standardization of work environments were all criteria that motivated the deployment within Europe Airpost.”

The results:

Time spent on supporting workstations reduced greatly
High availability of the workstation environment
Infrastructure of the workstation completely standardized and secure
Deployment in accordance with the obligations ITIL
