New Eaton 5SC UPS Combines Excellent Protection With Affordability

September 2013 by Marc Jacob

Eaton has launched its new 5SC range of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs) in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) which offer dependable power protection at an exceptionally competitive price. The new UPSs are ideally suited for use by small businesses to provide clean reliable power to small tower servers, network attached storage (NAS) and other network equipment, as well as for use in more specialised applications such as ATMs, ticket machines and photo kiosks.

Easy to set up and manage, Eaton’s compact 5SC UPSs incorporate an LCD panel that clearly shows key functional parameters, including input and output voltage, load and battery level, and estimated remaining runtime. This allows users to check the status of their UPS system at a glance, providing maximum peace of mind.

The new UPSs use energy-efficient line interactive technology and, when operating in battery mode, provide a pure sinewave output, making them fully compatible with even the most sensitive equipment, including servers with active power factor correction (PFC).

The 5SC UPSs also feature buck-and-boost operation, which allows them to compensate for a wide range of input voltage variations without calling on power from the batteries. Additionally, they incorporate Eaton’s ABM® battery management technology which uses an innovative three-stage charging system to extend the working life of the batteries by up to 50 percent.

Eaton 5SC UPSs are available with power ratings from 500 VA to 1,500 VA and incorporate up to 8 IEC 10 A sockets for easy connection of loads. The units provide USB, serial and relay connectivity, and full integration with Windows, Mac OS and Linux environments. As standard, 5SC UPSs are supplied with Eaton Intelligent Power Protector (IPP) software, which can be used for point-to-point power management or, with IPP acting as proxy, for network power management.
