InfoSecurity Russia-2010: “Monitoring and Protecting Data Centres. High Volume Traffic and Use of 10GE - Tasks and Challenges” – in Report by Derek Jackman, Vice President, Gigamon Systems LLC
October 2010 by Marc Jacob
Derek Jackman – VP of Gigamon Systems LLC - delivers speech “Monitoring and Protecting Data Centres. High Volume Traffic and Use of 10GE - Tasks and Challenges” on 18 November at InfoSecurity Russia. StorageExpo. Documation’2010. Registration http://direct.groteck.ru/accept
Derek Jackman will tell the representatives of telecoms operators, state and private companies about the challenges of using tools for protection and monitoring while using 10GE channels from anywhere. He will answer the following questions:
1. How can the operation of tools for protection and monitoring, failing to process high volume traffic, be improved?
2. How to reduce the “competition” for access to mirror ports?
3. How can a flexible infrastructure of data access, able to adapt to changing conditions and arising challenges, be created?
“The tasks of protecting infrastructure and key applications, the need of monitoring SLA-parameters and the quality of work of critical systems require real time access to data. Various departments within a diversified company - information security, monitoring, compliance and other - often compete for access to communications channels, - says Derek Jackman. – Traditional solutions of mirroring traffic are much restricted; they create additional load on critical system elements that may affect the quality of services and data accessibility. High volume traffic in networks within big companies and telecom providers cause a situation when existing tools for monitoring and protection fail to process big information flows, which is the reason of decreased efficiency.”
