Comments from Fujitsu: KPMG and BT research

July 2016 by Ollie Hart, Sales Director UKI, Enterprise

Following the news from KPMG and BT about how only a fifth of technology chiefs feel well enough equipped to deal with organised cybercrime, please see below comments from Ollie Hart, Sales Director UKI, Enterprise & Cyber Security at Fujitsu.

“With only a fifth of technology chiefs feeling well enough equipped to deal with organised cybercrime, it’s clearly obvious that many organisations still need a rude-awakening to the threat of cyber-attacks. It is also important to note how consumers will react knowing a vast majority of businesses that they trust with their personal data, are not prepared for such an attack.

“With a continuing growth of DDoS attacks, insider threats and phishing scams expected this year, organisations must not rely alone on defensive solutions. Instead they should begin focus on neutralising the cyber-criminals themselves before they can act. Using threat intelligence and other information sources, businesses can remain one step ahead by proactively looking for vulnerabilities in their network. Alongside this should sit a clear and well-rehearsed incident management plan, addressing internal and external communication in addition to containment and recovery activities.

“As the sophistication and regularity of security attacks continue to increase, it has never been more important for organisations to put security at the very top of the boardroom agenda.”
