Cellcrypt Mobile™ First to Enter NIAP Mobility Evaluation

August 2013 by Marc Jacob

Cellcrypt, a provider of encrypted voice
calling and messaging for smartphones and tablets, today announced that its
Cellcrypt Mobile for Secret™ product is officially in evaluation with the National
Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) Common Criteria Testing Laboratory (CCTL),

Cygnacom Solutions, Inc.. This version of the company’s popular Cellcrypt Mobile
software application is designed for operation at the U.S. Secret and Top Secret
classification levels. As of this release, Cellcrypt’s is the first and only
solution under evaluation against the NIAP Mobility Voice over Internet Protocol
(VoIP) protection profile.

Historically, secure communications have operated over Circuit Switched Data (CSD)
networks. However, network operators are rapidly deprecating CSD networks worldwide.
Thousands of purpose-built secure mobile devices in the field will need to be
replaced. Cellcrypt Mobile for Secret provides an easy to use, standards-based
encrypted VoIP application for commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS)
smartphones. The all-software solution communicates using SIP and SRTP, supports a
wide range of standard codecs, and can also use Near Field Communication (NFC)
technology to facilitate user authentication. Because Cellcrypt Mobile can be
rapidly deployed, and may be managed by any of the popular Mobile Device Management
systems, organizations and agencies could have a secure CSD replacement solution
running on a commercial smartphone in record time.

NIAP is a joint partnership established by the National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST), and the National Security Agency (NSA) to evaluate COTS IA and
IA-enabled IT product conformance to international standards designed to satisfy the
security testing needs of both information technology consumers and producers. The
NIAP Protection Profiles were created for technologies of high priority for U.S.
Government customers.

Upon successful completion of the testing, Cellcrypt Mobile for Secret will be
considered to have met the Common Criteria guidelines set by the NIAP VoIP
Application Protection Profile “Security Requirements for Voice over IP
Application”, released on January 28, 2013. These criteria are designed to
validate VoIP as an integrated component of the NIAP Mobility Capability
architecture.

Status for all security products being evaluated for Protection Profile compliance
