CISO of eBay to Share Cloud Computing Tips at ISACA’s Information Security and Risk Management Conference in Vienna

September 2010 by Marc Jacob

Cloud computing and virtualization offer incredible opportunities to today’s business, and the risks and benefits are being hotly debated worldwide. To help IT and business leaders determine the best choice for their organization, ISACA will feature in-depth cloud computing guidance at its Information Security and Risk Management (ISRM) Conference in Vienna, Austria, from 3-5 November 2010.

In his keynote address titled “Building Trust in the Cloud,” Dave Cullinane, chief information security officer (CISO) for eBay, will discuss how to securely leverage the benefits of cloud computing. The session will review the 13 domains of security concerns, the control and compliance requirements, and the Trusted Cloud Initiative as mechanisms to assist organisations in determining how to securely leverage the extraordinary benefits of cloud computing.

The ISRM conference - hosted by ISACA, a nonprofit association serving 95,000 IT governance, audit and security professionals in 160 countries - will feature seven sessions on cloud computing, highlighting the risks, benefits and best practices. The event merges network security, information security management and risk management, and is designed for all levels of information security and risk management professionals.

“This is one of the most important information security events in Europe this year with industry and the public sector confirming their interest in cloud security issues, and I am delighted to see such high calibre speakers and topics on the Vienna agenda. The cloud is certainly the dominant theme for 2010 and we have decided to create ‘a conference within a conference’ on cloud topics. With workshops and relevant sessions covering different perspectives, ISRM will provide practical answers to the long list of security questions,” said Ramsés Gallego, a member of ISACA’s CGEIT Certification Committee, GPC Committee, and Chair of the ISRM Program Task Force.

The conference will feature panel discussions, networking events and optional workshops as well as the opportunity to attend pre-conference workshops on the 1st and 2nd of November. The event is designed to meet the exact needs of information security professionals, and those who have or plan to attain ISACA’s Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM®) designation. Attendees can choose to attend sessions relating to the following key areas of IT security:

· Security technology

· Information security governance and compliance

· Information security standards and practices

· Information risk management

Conference attendees can earn up to 32 continuing professional education (CPE) hours. The registration fee is $2034 for ISACA members and $2274 for nonmembers.
