Securicorp Components looks after all UK-based Bikal Candy Bar Cam users through its website

November 2012 by Marc Jacob

The Bikal Candy Bar Camera turns four years old in December and this marks a landmark time as support enquiries still continue to come in. Support, mind, is largely email-based with password reset and lost software being the main issues. It still represents, for Securicorp Components anyway, the lowest percentage return product for the consumer market. The ease of use and also the now proven reliability enforces the product development team’s choice in picking this range. The level of support has been simple and very low-cost to the company, which must mean a low total cost of ownership (TCO) to the customer.

In order to maintain our commitment to the IP CCTV for the home market, Securicorp Support Services will continue to provide the software and firmware upgrades on its website and will also answer any particular support queries. Customers very rarely will adjust settings on their CCTV equipment; it is designed to be left on and running. With IP CCTV you may access it from multiple devices as there are more convenient applications to get this access but yet the settings of the camera will not change. Therefore, when there is an issue like moving house or a computer failure or a simple security setting change, the customer may not be able to remember how to change it. We understand this and know that we need to be available to help the customer to make the changes.

Our experience in support was blooded through starting on analogue CCTV, implementing basic DVRs and then networking them. As systems became more accessible through price and features we created the bridge for the home CCTV market to migrate from analogue to IP. Therefore, all feedback is important as the product develops rapidly with direct advancements but also through smarter phone sales. Candy Bar camera users who have purchased from other retailers, like Maplin in the UK, can contact us for any assistance and support.
