NetMotion Wireless Ups the Ante for Mobility Management With New Locality and Mobility Functionality
August 2014 by Marc Jacob
NetMotion Wireless, provider of mobility management solutions for enterprises with mobile workforces, today announced enhanced functionality for its Locality Server 2.1, and the latest Mobility 10.51 software. Locality Server 2.1 can now export detailed, geo-tagged signal coverage and quality data for upload into GIS systems. It also provides tracking for GPS status, allowing organizations to identify faulty GPS devices, spot sub-optimal performance and monitor employee GPS usage. Mobility 10.51 provides an automatic update capability for the Mobility client on Windows devices. This service can also be used to install and update Locality agents on those Windows devices.
Locality Server also features a new console optimized for HTML5-compatible browsers, allowing administrators to manage Locality from any device that supports HTML5. Locality Cloud user management is also improved, giving IT administrators access to create new users, modify existing user privileges, delete users and reset passwords.
In parallel with the Locality enhancements, NetMotion Wireless expanded Mobility functionality to remotely update Windows Mobility clients and install or upgrade Windows Locality agents over the network. This eliminates the need to bring Windows devices back to corporate to do future upgrades. Administrators can push an update to individual Windows devices, groups of devices or an entire deployment in real time, or schedule updates during non-peak periods like evenings or weekends. Administrators can even allow users to interrupt an update or defer it to a more convenient time in their workday.
