NCsoft Agrees ForeScout’s “Got Game”

ForeScout Technologies, Inc., a provider of automated security control solutions for Global 1000 enterprises and government organisations, today announced that NCsoft, the world’s premier publisher and developer of massively multiplayer online games (MMOs), has been added to the growing number of satisfied customers who have chosen ForeScout CounterACT to advance real-time visibility and automate endpoint compliance.
Like other IT organisations, NCsoft sought to increase visibility into the security posture of all devices on the network in order to tightly manage network and endpoint security policy and support compliance frameworks.
"We are always looking for ways to improve our security mechanisms and IT responsiveness," said Jang Jin Hyeok, director of IT security and network operations at NCsoft. "We evaluated leading network access control products and found that ForeScout CounterACT was the only NAC product that could provide all our required functionality without relying on endpoint agents and without impacting our network.”
With CounterACT in place, the IT staff could:
Ø Automatically identify all connected devices—wired or wireless, managed or unmanaged
Ø Gain complete visibility to the status of all devices and enforce security policies
Ø Assure endpoint protection and isolate insecure systems and unwanted applications
Ø Eliminate unauthorised computers and devices from connecting to internal network
Ø Effectuate controls that support compliance frameworks
NCsoft implemented multiple ForeScout CounterACT appliances within NCsoft. A CounterACT Enterprise Manager appliance provides unified visibility and dynamic policy management across all deployed appliances making administration simple, centralised and efficient. Since CounterACT operates out-of-band, supports active and passive device inspection methods and has a flexible policy engine, the NAC implementation was rapid, transparent and non-disruptive.
“At the end of the day, the comprehensive feature set, the ease of deployment and lower ongoing management effort were the key reasons why we chose ForeScout CounterACT,” added Mr. Jang.

In order to expedite identifying and implementing a solution that would deliver the level of visibility and endpoint compliance desired by NCsoft, the company turned to ForeScout channel partner Foresight.
