IFSEC India 2012 draws 8,627 visitors, with an overwhelming response from exhibitors

December 2012 by Marc Jacob

The recently concluded sixth edition of South Asia’s largest security exhibition – IFSEC India and Homeland Security India 2012 – ended on a highly successful note at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida. The three-day (Nov 1-3) exposition boasted close to 250 exhibitors from over 20 countries displaying the most cutting edge commercial, homeland security and fire safety technologies, products, solutions and services, with onsite product launches from major industry suppliers.

The event, spread over 15000 sq meters of gross space, attracted 8627 high caliber, senior visitors from both government and commercial sectors. The exhibition ensured that the exhibiting suppliers met both channel partners (system integrators and value-added resellers) as well as the end-user organizations including private security professionals, alongside governmental agencies including defense, paramilitary and police.

Delighted by the resounding success of the event, many exhibitors have already booked their place to be at the seventh edition of the show to be held at the same venue on December 5-7, 2013.

Mr. G.K. Pillai, IAS, former secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs delivered the Guest address during the inaugural conference, speaking on ‘IFSEC 2012: Changing Landscape of India’s Homeland Security’. The inaugural ceremony was attended by eminent dignitaries from the industry, as well as being the chosen event for the launch of the ASSOCHAM-Aviotech study titled ‘India Homeland Security Market: An Emerging Opportunity’. Others prominent speakers included Dr. Vivek Lall, President & CEO, Reliance Industries Ltd.; Mr. Sandeep Salunke, Inspector General of Police, Crime, Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Rahul Gangal, Director, Aviotech; and Vice Admiral (Retd.) P.C. Bhasin, PVSM, AVSM, VSM and chairman, ASSOCHAM Defence Committee Member and Senior Advisor, L&T Ltd.

Mr. Pankaj Jain, Project Director, IFSEC India and Homeland Security India said of the event, “IFSEC & Homeland Security India 2012 turned out to be a perfect platform for security professionals from both our exhibiting companies as well as visiting attendees to discuss JVs, partnerships and associations, sourcing, dealership and network tapping. Vendors were excited about launching and test marketing new products to a hugely receptive audience and were able to generate numerous business queries and close on-the-spot business deals. This is precisely why we’ve received an unprecedented response for immediate interest in participating next year as well.”

“India constitutes 3.6% share of global homeland expenditure and this is set to increase to 6% by 2020, making IFSEC India a vital undertaking to connect the professionals that will drive this investment forward. The Indian Government has increased its security budget by 35%, announcing a spend of USD 1 billion on police modernization and arranging coordinated intelligence gathering, as well as increasing security for critical infrastructure and its 7500 km long coastline. All of these actions promise an exciting future for the Indian security industry and our exposition in the years to come,” added Mr. Jain.

The importance of the Indian security market was not only locally acknowledged by exhibitors, but was shown to be an international focus at IFSEC India. The event attracted country pavilions from the USA, UK, China and Taiwan, all boasting leading suppliers looking to enter the Indian market.

The homeland security conference on ‘Changing Landscape of India’s Homeland Security’ aimed to educate and inform the market, keeping Indian security professionals at the cutting edge of industry developments. High level speakers deliberated on key topics including safeguarding India’s critical infrastructures, enhancing transport security, urban surveillance for safer cities, new age surveillance supplementing traditional security, as well as tackling emerging social engineering threats. Following the London 2012 Olympics, India’s most successful Olympic year to date, IFSEC India also presented a case study on Olympic security at the event. A parallel commercial security conference on ‘Shaping the future of security: Applying the latest global knowledge to the Indian security market’ featured prominent speakers from across the industry including Mr. David Gorshkov, Director, AGT International GmbH; Mr. Eric Fullerton, CSMA, Milestone Systems; Mr. Anil Dhawan, Head – Solutions, Aditya Infotech; Mr. Shiv Charan Yadav, President, APSA; Mr. Iqbal Singh Jagdeva, MD, Turbo Security; Mr. Sudhindra Holla, Country Manager, Axis Communications; Mr. Rajesh Solanki, CEO, Everfocus Electronics, among others.

With the overwhelmingly positive response from both local and international exhibitors, suppliers and associations were keen to give their view on how they believed IFSEC India was a vital event to the industry. Mr. Aditya Khemka, CEO & Director - Aditya Infotech Ltd commented “IFSEC India has been a Flagship Event for us at Aditya Group. We have been associated from the very beginning and are proud to be the largest participant always here. IFSEC gives a great platform to us to showcase full product offerings to our channel partners, corporate customers and large end-users and we wish UBM team all the very best for the success for IFSEC 2013.”

Supporting this statement Mr. Sanjay Sehgal, VP-Enterprise Business, D-Link India Limited stated “IFSEC India was definitely a well organised show and D-Link was able to take maximum benefits from its presence as COMPLETE IP SUVEILLANCE SOLUTION PROVIDER. We got the opportunity of meeting with some serious customers and looking forward to make most of it. All the best for IFSEC India 2013”.

Mr. Alan Locke, Head of Sales, Fike, stated; “IFSEC India was a hugely productive event for us, generating a high level of both awareness and leads from a superb caliber of visitor. We received an exceptional level of care from our Account Manager, and the whole process of exhibiting at an IFSEC event was seamless. We’d hugely recommend this exhibition to companies looking to enter this thriving market.”

"IFSEC India 2012 was one of the most successful events we have attended, more so than other security shows that took place in India earlier, in terms of quality of exhibitors and solutions demonstrated. We were very satisfied with the quality of visitors and will be there for IFSEC India 2013," stated Mr. T P Singh, Director (S&M), FLIR.

According to Mr. Sanjay Srivastava, Head – PalmSecure, India & Indian Sub-continent, Fujitsu India Pvt. Ltd. “The arrangements were superb and the extensive targeted marketing of the event was evident in the high calibre visitors. The travel arrangements and the exhibition layout ensured easy access for all the attendees, with a focus on accessibility even at a difference, so they do not miss out on the technologies and solutions like PalmSecure. This was a very pleasant return for us at IFSEC having participated at other similar events in the past. If the situation permits, we are sure to return to IFSEC 2013 – it’s our first choice of event.”

Mr. Srikanth Kamath, BDM-SAARC, MOBOTIX AG, felt that IFSEC India footfall was excellent, with both business potential and interest as well as beneficial branding opportunities. "We congratulate UBM for pulling off an exceptional exhibition in Greater Noida."

Mr. Anand Navani, Country Manager, Verint discussed his pleasure in their association with IFSEC India, "Our continuous participation highlights the fact that we look at IFSEC as a great show and brand to work with. This year event at Greater Noida was also a great forum to meet industry peers and large number of system integrators. The logistic facilities were excellent and visitor friendly. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with IFSEC India.”

“IFSEC India 2012 was a big success, with a real focus on a broad range of high-quality visitors. There was a very good atmosphere on the show floor, with a buzz of real business happening, and we had conversations with the high calibre professionals that we had never previously met, even when IFSEC was held in Delhi. We found that the new venue far surpassed the previous one, making the event a very worthwhile investment. IFSEC India was such a great experience for us that we have already confirmed our participation in 2013.” Stated Luca Laghetto, Technical Manager, Videotec S.p.A.
