Commidea implements payment system for Nuffield Health Hospitals

April 2011 by Marc Jacob

Payment processing provider Commidea has completed the implementation of its payment system, Ocius for PC across 30 Nuffield Health hospitals nationwide and in its UK contact centre. Ocius for PC has enabled Nuffield Health to capture all chargeable treatment on their systems, speed up payment processes, simplify invoice settlement for patients and help with debt management.

Nuffield Health is the UK’s largest trading charity, providing health and wellbeing services through a national network of hospitals, wellbeing centres and workplaces. Using PC-based Ocius for PC, staff no longer have to use telephone line PDQ machines to process payments with manual paper based systems to track transactions.

As well as being able to settle invoices over the phone or face to face, staff can also swipe payment cards at the time of an appointment booking or on arrival at the hospital, retaining the token data but not storing credit card details directly on site. This ensures greater data protection but has also helped with debt management as staff can contact patients about outstanding invoices as well as using token data to take additional payments with patient approval.

“We selected Ocius for PC because of its breadth of functionality,” says Rosalind Combes, General Manager for Commercial Projects, Nuffield Health. “Commidea also proved itself to be the most proactive partner. Not only was the team able to demonstrate experience in our sector but they were not daunted by our strict implementation timescales across 30 hospitals. They offered advice and support throughout the implementation.”

“This has been a very rewarding project for the Commidea team, especially as Nuffield Health has embraced so much of the Ocius for PC functionality,” added Ian Rutland, Director of Marketing and Communication, Commidea. “We’re delighted to see that considerable efficiency gains have already been made and that they are making full use of all the tokenisation benefits, not just for data protection but also to help with recovering invoice payments.”
