Celebrating Computing Security Excellence at the TCG Annual Awards

November 2023 by Marc Jacob

Remarkable achievements, innovations and contributions from experts across the cybersecurity industry have been recognized at the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Annual Member Meeting Awards ceremony.

This year the ceremony was held in the Google offices located in Kirkland, Washington. Among the awards presented were the Frank Molsberry Distinguished Service Award and the Leadership Award, voted by the TCG Board of Directors, as well as the Key Contributor Awards nominated by the entire membership.

“We are immensely proud of our members and the remarkable achievements they continue to deliver,” said TCG President Dr. Joerg Borchert. “The TCG stands on the shoulders of a community driven by the passion, dedication and innovation of its members. I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Jeff, Shiva, Theo and Toru for their successes this year, and I am excited to what the future holds for our distinguished award winners”.
The Frank Molsberry Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor presented by TCG. Named after Frank Molsberry, who served on the TCG Board with tremendous dedication for many years, the Award recognizes individuals who have provided a substantial body of work over an extended period of time. The winner will also have shown ongoing commitment to the mission and goals of the organization.

Shiva Dasari is a Senior Distinguished Technologist and the Chief Infrastructure Security Architect in the office of the CTO at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). Shiva has played an active role in the TCG Board and Technical Committee for over ten years, alongside his role as Chair of the TCG Server Work Group and Co-Chair of the Vulnerability Response Board Subcommittee. A vital contributor to many specifications, Shiva has been honored with the Frank Molsberry Distinguished Service Award for his continued dedication to the TCG.

The Leadership Award recognizes individuals who are strong leaders and work collaboratively within the organization to advance TCG’s mission. This year, Jeff Andersen, Staff Service Engineer at Google is the worthy recipient. Jeff is a leader in the field of cryptographic sealing, remote attestation, confidential compute and supply chain integrity, and is a Co-Chair of the TCG Data Center Work Group (DCWG) formed in March 2023. His commitment and contributions within the DCWG and other key areas across the TCG has proven pivotal to the organization’s ongoing success.

The Awards ceremony also celebrated key contributors within the TCG, nominated by the Board and fellow peers for their demonstrable efforts towards the organization’s goals and missions within the past year. Those recognized include Theo Koulouris, Security Architect in the office of the CTO at HPE, and Toru Tomita, Director of the Offensive Security Group at the Cyber Defense Institute.

A core contributor to the HPE DMTF SPDM standard, Theo is also the editor of the Platform Certificate Profile specification at the TCG and holds a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from University College London, and a BEng in Telecommunications from Queen Mary University of London.

Toru has been an active participant in the Japan Regional Forum (JRF) hosted workshops and has consistently delivered technical presentations on the practical applications and benefits of TCG technologies, including the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Outside of the TCG, Toru serves at the Cyber Defense Institute, where he leads the Offensive Security Group.
TCG would like to thank all award winners for their contributions over the past year and congratulate all nominees for their continued service.
