Apposite’s 10 Gbps WAN Emulator Triples Capacity Required for Testing Latency-Sensitive Applications

Apposite® Technologies announced the release of its next-generation, high-performance WAN emulator. The Netropy 10G2 allows application developers and enterprises to validate the performance of bandwidth-intensive, latency-sensitive applications prior to roll-out. Regardless of the application, the new Netropy 10G2 WAN Emulator can now simulate two separate bi-directional 10 Gbps links running at full-line rate.
Many of today’s bandwidth-intensive applications, such as network storage, data center replication, and IP video are susceptible to the network impairments found in wide area networks (WANs)—such as bandwidth constraints, latency, packet loss and congestion. Apposite Technologies’ WAN emulators allow application developers and IT managers to simulate these network variances to determine how their applications will run in real-world conditions before the application ever reaches the end user.

The new Netropy 10G2’s two bi-directional 10 Gbps links allow simulation of redundant 10 Gbps lines, or two separate 10 Gbps simulations at the same time. The 4 SFP+ ports offer 1/10 Gbps autonegotiating capability, supporting both 10 Gbps SFP+ and 1 Gbps SFP for easy installation onto any 1 or 10 Gbps network. It features a redundant power supply to guarantee uninterrupted operation for installation in mission-critical networks.
