SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY

An attacker who has the "Add Existing Disk" privilege can access
to all files of VMware ESX/EXSi.

Impacted products: ESX, ESXi, VMware vSphere Hypervisor

Severity: 2/4

Creation date: 23/12/2013

DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY

The "Add Existing Disk" privilege allows to add disks. The
"Virtual Machine Power User" and "Resource Pool Administrator"
roles have this privileges.

However, with this privilege, a local attacker can gain a read and
write access to all files.

An attacker who has the "Add Existing Disk" privilege can
therefore access to all files of VMware ESX/EXSi.
