March 2014 by Vigil@nce
This bulletin was written by Vigil@nce : http://vigilance.fr/offer
SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker can use Microsoft Silverlight, in order to bypass
ASLR/DEP to exploit another vulnerability.
– Impacted products: Silverlight
– Severity: 2/4
– Creation date: 11/03/2014
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization) feature loads
programs at random memory addresses, so it’s more difficult to
exploit memory corruptions. The DEP (Data Execution Prevention)
feature forbids the usage of non executable pages.
However, Microsoft Silverlight can be used to bypass ASLR/DEP.
Technical details are unknown.
An attacker can therefore use Microsoft Silverlight, in order to
bypass ASLR/DEP to exploit another vulnerability.
