October 2012 by Vigil@nce
This bulletin was written by Vigil@nce : http://vigilance.fr/offer
SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker can repeatedly use the administration interface of
Cisco Unity Connection, in order to use all connections to the
database, and thus create a denial of service.
– Impacted products: Cisco Unity
– Severity: 2/4
– Creation date: 24/09/2012
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Cisco Unity Connection product can be configured in mode
Active/Active (A/A).
The administration page of Cisco Unity Connection uses the Cisco
Tomcat service, which connects to a database. However, the
database connection descriptor is not freed when it is not used
anymore in mode A/A.
An attacker can therefore repeatedly use the administration
interface of Cisco Unity Connection, in order to use all
connections to the database, and thus create a denial of service.
