SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY
An attacker can attach himself to the pseudo-terminal of a
terminating TCL script in of Cisco IOS, in order to get
administrator privileges.
Impacted products: Cisco Catalyst, IOS Cisco, Cisco Router.
Severity: 2/4.
Creation date: 15/06/2015.
DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY
The Cisco IOS product includes a TCL interpreter.
TCL scripts are connected to a pseudo-terminal, for I/O with the
end user. However, when a script terminates, the privileges
associated to the pseudo-terminal are not suitably reset. So an
attacker who can attach a process of him to this pseudo-terminal
would be able to run administration commands.
An attacker can therefore attach himself to the pseudo-terminal of
a terminating TCL script in of Cisco IOS, in order to get
administrator privileges.
