SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY

An attacker can send malicious IKEv2 packets to Cisco ASR 5000, in
order to trigger a denial of service.

Impacted products: Cisco ASR.

Severity: 2/4.

Creation date: 08/12/2016.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY

The Cisco ASR 5000 product has a service to manage received IKEv2
packets.

However, when malicious IKEv2 packets are received, a fatal error
occurs.

An attacker can therefore send malicious IKEv2 packets to Cisco
ASR 5000, in order to trigger a denial of service.
