Via Rail opts for Managed Email Security and selects Zerospam

David Poellhuber, President of Montréal-based ZEROSPAM, announced VIA Rail Canada (VIA) has selected its hosted email security platform to minimize the effects of spam on the company’s network. The primary reasons for the decision are the superior filtering and significant resource savings delivered by ZEROSPAM’s managed email security solution.
Until recently, VIA managed its own email security. Late last year though, recognising the need for enhanced protection from today’s virulent security threats including spam, phishing and spoofing, VIA issued a request for proposal to select a world-class partner able to offer a hosted email security solution that would be maintenance free and able to substantially eliminate the large quantity of spam being received daily on the company’s network.
“We selected ZEROSPAM’s hosted solution after a comprehensive and competitive process where we evaluated criteria such as scalability, ability to perform, track record and price,” said Mike Gaudreau, VIA’s Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Technical Support. “We are confident that ZEROSPAM will meet our evolving needs in this critical area.”
E-mail spam has steadily, even exponentially grown since the early 1990s. Not only is it a major annoyance but it has now become a real security threat as spam has become increasingly dangerous, delivering worms, viruses and spyware to unsuspecting users and scaring them into revealing personal information that can be used to commit fraud. So far, no law has been able to deal with the problem with any degree of efficiency, so enterprises are left with no other choice than to seek commercial solutions to protect their infrastructures against the 140 billion spam emails that are sent every day worldwide.
