ValidEdge Launches Portable Malware Intelligence System at Infosec

April 2012 by Marc Jacob

ValidEdge is to formally unveil the MISbook, a full malware intelligence system on a laptop computer, at Infosec, London, April 24-26. The booth will also feature a live demonstration of LynxSecure, a defence grade hypervisor from LynuxWorks, the parent company of ValidEdge.

The ValidEdge MISbook 2300, to be launched at Infosec, allows malware researchers and incident-response teams to quickly analyse any new and unknown malware and identify its threat rating and classification, even when away from the network. Housed on a secure laptop, the unique MISbook utilises its underlying secure virtualisation platform to offer a standard Linux® or Microsoft® Windows® partition that behaves like a normal laptop. Two other hidden secure partitions offer a management interface to submit and manage malware samples and access analysis results in one secure partition, and a second hidden secure partition to run live malware without compromising the rest of the laptop.

Also on the stand will be a demonstration of the LynuxWorks LynxSecure separation kernel and hypervisor protecting a standard laptop from either attack or exfiltration of data (DLP). LynuxWorks is the parent company of ValidEdge, and its MIS products incorporate LynxSecure.

Also being demonstrated at Infosec is the ValidEdge MIS 1300 malware analysis appliance. The MIS1300 adds a number of new features including analysis of VB scripts and Java Rootkits, support for multiple OS environments in a single box and enhanced reporting features. Like its predecessor, the MIS 1200, the new appliance processes large volumes of samples, in addition to analysing unknown malware samples in seconds. There will be a live connection from booth G78 at Infosec to a ValidEdge MIS 1300 appliance located in California.
