UL expands PCI PTS services into China

September 2013 by Marc Jacob

UL is pleased to announce that their new PCI PTS laboratory in China has successfully been accredited by PCI Security Standards Council to perform PCI PTS security evaluation services.

Device and terminal manufacturers have to ensure their PIN acceptance devices are compliant with PCI’s PTS (Pin Transaction Security) requirements, and can only do this through testing of these devices in PCI accredited laboratories.

UL is already the industry leading provider of PCI PTS evaluation services, with existing laboratories in both the UK and Australia. With the accreditation of the China laboratory, UL re-enforces its commitment to the Asian region, and ensures that its Chinese customers are able to access the same high quality services they expect from UL from a more local base.

Jean-Luc Khaou, Head of UL Transaction Security Asia, commented: “Having our third PCI PTS laboratory accredited is great news. In line with our development plan, UL is investing in Asia and is willing to contribute with its strong expertise to local schemes and stakeholders to promote EMV migration and mobile payments roll out.

This accreditation supports our strategy to provide transaction security services globally and expands our capability to support our customers in Greater China. We are confident that device and terminal manufacturers within the Greater China region will greatly benefit from our high quality security evaluation services.”

UL’s certification portfolio is continuously expanding, and in addition to offering PCI PTS security evaluations, they also offer PCI PA-DSS, PCI P2PE, EMVCo level 1 and level 2, brand certification testing for the world’s major payment schemes and formal validation for MasterCard.

UL’s transaction security services were formed after the acquisition of RFI Smart (part of RFI Global Services Ltd) in 2010 and Collis and Witham Laboratories in 2012. On the 1st of November 2012, the three companies rebranded to UL and became one. Under the UL umbrella they offer extensive advisory services, training, test and certification services, security evaluation services and test tools to stakeholders in the payment, mobile, e-ticketing and ID management domains worldwide.
