TrustPort support the ”Light It Up Blue“ campaign

April 2012 by Marc Jacob

TrustPort has decided to support the global campaign "Light It Up Blue". All employees will wear only blue clothes within April and the Headquarter offices will be light up blue. TrustPort will follow such institutions as the Empire State Building in New York or the CN Tower in Toronto. April 2nd was announced as the World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) by the United Nations 5 years ago. The blue colour is the symbol of this worldwide campaign. The aim of the "Light It Up Blue" campaign is to rise of public awareness about the autism diagnosis.

Althouh it should be surprising for some people, it is not unusual to connect a branch of the information technology, a domain of the TrustPort company, with autism. The famous IT companies such as Google, Microsoft, Prospects, Phoenix Technologies support people with autism with various ways. They offer a job for very talented people with an autistic spectrum disorder and they give them a possibility to develop themselves and to be of a benefit to a company.

Derrick McCourt, director of Microsoft Scotland said for Scotland’s TV: "My son has Asperger syndrome and I understand the extra challenges that young people with autism have in finding the right role in such a competitive environment. The work that the recruitment branch does is vital in levelling the playing field for people who have strong, even exceptional talents but who need extra support to realise their full potential and be an amazing staff member."

TrustPort has also decided to follow this trend and help people with autistic spectrum disorder not only by this one-time action, but also by a long-term offer of cooperation talented people with autism with IT experts from the TrustPort company.

„It is our pleasure to be involved in such an interesting and beneficial event as the "Light It Up Blue" campaign. The blue colour is not only a colour of this campaign, but it is also a corporate colour of the TrustPort company. We want to give a chance all talented people with autism and offer them work cooperation in an IT branch. A support of the World Autism Awareness Day stands for us not only a social responsibility, but primarily our pleasure and challenge. We believe that this campaign will be followed by lots of companies and individuals“ said Lucie Grohova, Marketing Director at TrustPort.
