Thales showcases high assurance data protection for Microsoft solutions

June 2013 by Marc Jacob

Thales is showcasing its line of high assurance data protection solutions at Microsoft TechEd North America, New Orleans, June 3-6, 2013.

Thales hardware security modules (HSMs) enhance the security of Microsoft identity management and data encryption collaboration systems as well as a wide range of commercial and custom applications built on the Windows platform. Thales nShield HSMs integrate quickly and easily with applications that use Microsoft’s cryptographic APIs (CAPI and CNG) to access cryptographic processes and key management tools – an essential component of any system that relies on encryption for confidentiality, digital credentials for strong authentication and digital signatures to ensure the integrity of data and application code.

Critical enterprise security systems such as Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Rights Management Services (RMS) act to control access to systems and sensitive data across the user community, within traditional data centers and into the cloud. To complement this, secure enterprise code signing allows application developers to digitally sign applications in order to prove authenticity and determine that the application has not been modified, potentially for malicious purposes prior to it being executed. Using an HSM upholds the well-established best practice of performing sensitive cryptographic functions and the associated key management tasks within a trusted hardened device.
