Surfshark launches Dynamic MultiHop that allows complete connection customizability

January 2023 by Marc Jacob

Cybersecurity company Surfshark released a significant upgrade to the standard VPN multi-hop feature. The new feature, called Dynamic MultiHop, allows people to use two VPN servers simultaneously instead of one and manually select both locations to create server pairs that best suit their needs. The feature will give users complete customizability of their connection, as they will be able to choose from more than 100 server country locations that Surfshark offers. Dynamic MultiHop is a part of a unique, award-winning Surfshark Nexus technology that uses Software Defined Networking (SDN) to connect our VPN servers to a single, global network.

The feature is already available for iOS users and will gradually be enrolled for Android, Windows, and macOS over the next few weeks. After updating the app, users will see a MultiHop tab above the VPN locations list on the home screen. There, they can select the fastest, nearest, or any other entry and exit countries, which will be visible on websites and services. Users will see previous server pairs in the locations list and can save their favorites or delete unused ones.

Dynamic MultiHop is a part of Surfshark’s unique innovation Surfshark Nexus. It uses Software Defined Networking (SDN) to connect Surfshark VPN servers to a single, global network. As all servers are part of this network, users can connect to any country they want, add another, and change it to get maximum security. Surfshark Nexus was named the "VPN Solution of the Year" in the 6th annual CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards program.

Dynamic MultiHop is the newest addition to the Nexus package, alongside the already introduced IP Rotator, which changes users’ IP addresses (every five to 10 minutes) and makes it even harder for websites and companies to track their visitors’ activity.
