SoftBank Technology Deploys BYOD Security Solution Built on ForeScout CounterACT for SEGA Corporation
September 2013 by Marc Jacob
ForeScout Technologies, Inc., a provider of real-time network security solutions for Fortune 1000
enterprises and government organisations, today announced that its
Japan-based technology partner, SoftBank Technology (SBT), has introduced
its BYOD inspection and operation service based on ForeScout CounterACTT
to SEGA Corporation, a major game manufacturer.
With the introduction of this BYOD security service, SEGA enjoys an SBT
managed service to monitor both wired and wireless networks to detect and
assess devices and prevent devices, such as PCs and smartphones that are
unmanaged or do not adhere to SEGA’s security policy, from connecting to
its network. Overall, the system enhances SEGA’s in-house network
security, reduces the load on management by using SBT’s operation and
maintenance service and achieves a secure network environment, which
allowed SEGA to deploy a full-fledged BYOD program.
"SBT’s offering based on CounterACT is highly acclaimed. It also provides
a wide variety of operating systems, which can be classified and
inspected, as well as an array of endpoint protection software options.
Furthermore, all devices on both wired and wireless LAN can be managed on
one system. [As a managed service], operations management can be preserved
as SBT remotely supports the implementation and monitoring," stated Mr.
Uehara, senior staff, IT service team at SEGA.
As the engine of SBT’s BYOD inspection network, ForeScout CounterACT
automatically identifies devices that are not following corporate defined
security policies. CounterACT can dynamically identify, classify and
inspect all systems, such as PCs or smart devices, connected to the
network and automatically detect and prevent unauthorised access, as well
as defend against worms and attacks. CounterACT’s inspection and policy
enforcement can automatically identify, limit or quarantine device access
without requiring agents.
