Secutech features Asia’s biggest access control / biometrics pavilion

November 2010 by Marc Jacob

Secutech, the international exhibition and conference for the electronic security, information security, fire and safety industries expects to attract more than 70 international brands and leading Asian manufacturers including Fingertec, Giga TMS, HID, KLA System, Syris technology and UWC to its access control / biometrics pavilion. The 14th edition expects to attract more than 25,550 professional buyers to source the latest products and services.

The show will be held from 20 – 22 April 2011 at the Nangang Taipei World Trade Center, Taiwan. It is organised by Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media Ltd, a leading integrated media company dedicated to the security industry, organising Secutech trade fairs as well as publishing 13 A&S magazines and operating several websites.

As the world’s IP security hub, Secutech offers a professional platform for web-based access control manufacturers and suppliers to do business and network with leading IP video management system providers. The access control / biometrics pavilion will feature 116 booths showcasing a complete range of products and services from IP readers, IP access control solutions, e-home systems, face recognition access control systems, fingerprint biometric systems, palm vein technology to intercoms and electronic magnetic locks. Security auditing solutions such as RFID products and technologies will also be displayed.

In addition, Secutech is organising two special events related to access control. The Intelligent Building Forum will explore the latest trends, technologies and applications for e-home products and intelligent buildings. Topics will include green projects, fire detection and prevention, intrusion detection and other e-home applications. The Green Project Display is a special showcase at the Intelligent Building pavilion where eco-friendly e-home products can be seen.

Access control integrating with new surveillance sectors creates a huge market

The convergence of access control technologies with other security systems such as biometric identification and video surveillance equipment is offering abundant business opportunities.

Access control systems such as web-based access control, one-card convergence, integrated card reader option, high volume data storing technology and controller are widely used in airports, hotels and asset management. In addition, there is a rapid growth in the radio-frequency identification (RFID) sector, especially in developing ASEAN countries. RFID technology is used for many security and safety solutions such as ID tags, tracking solutions and sensor integration.

According to industry experts, biometric identification will gradually replace traditional magnetic stripe cards by the middle of next decade. Examples of biometric solutions are passport identification, skeletal, iris and facial recognition and hand geometry scan.

Secutech is part of Messe Frankfurt’s global network of security trade fairs. Messe Frankfurt also organises five other leading security trade fairs: Intersec in Dubai, Secutech Thailand, Secutech Vietnam, Seguriexpo Buenos Aires and Intersec Buenos Aires.
