SIX deploys tufin secureapp to automate application connectivity management

December 2012 by Emmanuelle Lamandé

Tufin Technologies announced SIX as the first Tufin customer to deploy its new product, SecureApp, in a production environment.

SIX operates Switzerland’s financial market infrastructure and offers on a global scale comprehensive services in the areas of securities trading, clearing and settlement, as well as financial information and payment transactions. SIX’s business depends on hundreds of applications and business services with distributed architectures and fast changing network requirements, all of which generate a high volume of application-related firewall change requests. SIX’s network security team deployed the Tufin Security Suite to map firewall change processes to the application-centric needs of the business while ensuring that SIX’s security policy would never be compromised.

SIX’s firewall change processes were quite complicated and required many resources, both in terms of personnel and time. Tasks such as application deployment, maintenance and decommissioning were time consuming and error prone. In addition, SIX’s firewall team was continuously being challenged by the ever-increasing risk of attacks and needed advanced tools to identify and mitigate the risks.

Tufin worked closely with SIX to gain a thorough understanding of its application connectivity needs. Together, they created a set of requirements, which evolved and grew as Tufin supplied updated versions of SecureApp, culminating in the official product release.

Within a few weeks, SecureApp streamlined the process by which SIX manages applications, as well as diagnoses connectivity problems. In the short time that SecureApp has been deployed, SIX’s IT team reports that the majority of its application connectivity processes have been expedited.
