Product manager appointed to bring cutting edge facial surveillance technology to market
March 2011 by Marc Jacob
OmniPerception has appointed a product manager to help spearhead its efforts to bring to market cutting edge facial surveillance technology that has the potential to revolutionise the way biometrics is used to identify a person’s face.
Charles Smith brings with him a wealth of experience in sales and marketing in the technology industry having previously worked for the Dixons Stores Group and satellite navigation manufacturer Mio.
He will work with the existing team based at the company’s UK headquarters in Guildford to bring to market CheckPoint.S™ unique facial surveillance technology that can capture an image and recognise a suspect as they walk past the camera.
The suspect doesn’t have to directly look at the camera because the technology is so advanced that it is capable of extracting the facial features from the image and compares these against images already stored in an existing database.
The search is completed in seconds and if a match is recorded, CheckPoint.S™ relays alerts in real time.
As well as accurately identifying possible criminals, the technology can also be used to confirm the identity of VIPs looking to enter premises such as hotels and casinos.
