NetIQ Positioned in Leaders Quadrant for SIEM

July 2012 by Marc Jacob

NetIQ announced that it has been named a Leader in the Gartner 2012 Magic Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) based on evaluation of NetIQ® Sentinel™.* According to the report, users still value this attribute over breadth of coverage beyond the core use cases. There is a danger of SIEM products (which are already complex) becoming too complex as vendors extend capabilities. Vendors that are able to provide deployment simplicity as they add function will be the most successful in the market.

“Security teams today need to achieve successful outcomes from SIEM without creating additional levels of complexity that prevent them from determining their threat and compliance posture,” said Hadib Changriha, Engineer ISM at NetIQ. “With NetIQ Sentinel, we are reducing the complexity often found in SIEM technologies so that organizations can reliably produce the actionable intelligence required to address the real threats they face from targeted attacks and malware, as well as provide visibility into user activity and regulatory controls to best protect corporate data. We are thrilled with the recognition from Gartner and that our customers recognize the value Sentinel delivers to ensure information protection and minimize organizational risk.”

NetIQ Sentinel delivers full-featured SIEM (real-time event analysis and log management) while eliminating the complexity other SIEM toolkits introduce to help organizations proactively manage risk, achieve greater visibility into potential threats, better control their security posture, and simplify the task of regulatory compliance. With NetIQ Sentinel, companies can automate the process of monitoring for policy violations, identifying and responding to targeted attacks, and delivering compliance reporting to demonstrate the effectiveness of critical IT controls.
