NaviSite Introduces NaviCloud® Intelligent Storage Vault for Enterprises
March 2013 by Marc Jacob
NaviSite, Inc., a Time Warner Cable Company, is a provider of enterprise-class hosting, managed application, managed messaging and managed cloud services, today announced a new backup service for enterprises as part of the NaviCloud Intelligent Storage (NCIS) suite of solutions. NCIS Vault provides companies with an advanced, on premise, data protection and storage capability with data replication to the NaviCloud platform.
In a recent IDC Analyst Connection report, "Reduce Storage Infrastructure Costs and Complexity with Copy Data Management," it’s estimated that in 2011 the amount of information created and replicated surpassed 1.8 zettabytes — or 1.6 trillion gigabytes. This data is expected to continue to grow, in aggregate, at a CAGR of 45 percent from 2010 to 2015. The challenges of data storage are increased as businesses need to retain multiple copies of each piece of data for a variety of business critical reasons including — business continuity and disaster recover, testing, development, data protection and compliance reasons.
NCIS Vault leverages Actifio’s Copy Data Storage system and their patented Dedupe-Async replication technology to reduce the amount of replicated storage a business produces without losing critical information. In the End-to-End service option, the solution includes installation, configuration, and set up of the data protection schema as a part of the NaviSite service. Alternatively, customers may choose to operationally manage their own edge device and purchase replication service to the NaviCloud based hub site.
The solution enables organizations to:
Leverage de-duplication capabilities to reduce the amount of storage space needed
Quickly increase available storage, while only paying for what is actually used
Retain off-site data storage in an economical and flexible manner
