Juniper Networks Joins Forces with Xantaro to Host its First EMEA OpenLab SDN and Network Automation Student Competition
March 2017 by Marc Jacob
Juniper Networks together with services integrator Xantaro, has announced its first workshop and competition (aka ‘Throwdown’) in Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA). Hosted by Birmingham City University from April 11 - 20, 2017, Juniper and Xantaro will bring together teams of university students from across EMEA to solve a real-world business challenge involving software-defined networking (SDN) and network automation technologies.
As part of Juniper’s ongoing OpenLab program, the event will provide university-participants with hands-on network education and coding experience through workshop lectures and training focused on the emerging SDN technology revolution. The first two days will take place on campus, followed by seven days of the students working off premises to develop their projects. All teams will reconvene on Thursday, April 20 to present and demonstrate their developed network solutions to a panel of judges, after which awards will be given.
Juniper Networks announced the launch of several new OpenLab sites last year in Silicon Valley (Sunnyvale, CA), Amsterdam, London, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney. This expansion to a total of seven facilities around the world continues to catalyze networking innovation worldwide. OpenLab offers customers, partners, universities and other networking industry leaders the opportunity to learn about and work with Juniper’s automation products and tools to spark the development of innovative services and applications.
