Ilex International: Survey reveals only one in four UK firms fully embraces enterprise mobile security

June 2015 by Ilex International

A survey of IT security experts conducted by Ilex International reveals that while most businesses understand the importance of including mobile in their security protocols, many are struggling to provide secure and user-friendly mobile access.

The vast majority (92 per cent) of the 254 IT security experts surveyed at Infosecurity conference in June said it was either very or fairly important to control access to business applications through mobile devices. Additionally, 84 per cent of respondents said their firms include mobile in their security policies in one way or another.

However, it is clear that most companies are struggling to provide mobile devices access to business information in a secure and user-friendly way, with only 25 per cent of firms extending their single sign-on (SSO) processes to include mobile.

“In today’s environment, it’s simply not good enough to treat mobile devices as an exception or a barrier to your organisation’s security protocols,” said Thierry Bettini, Sales Director at Ilex International. “Businesses are the ones that benefit from employees bringing their own devices and being more connected to work through mobile devices, so they need to provide secure mobile access in a more user-friendly way.”

“A single sign-on that includes mobile devices simplifies secure access for users and reduces the security risks for businesses. It means users won’t store usernames and passwords on devices and passwords won’t be shared across potentially insecure networks,” Mr. Bettini said.

Ilex International is an identity and access management firm founded in 1989. They are first vendor to offer ‘Global SSO’, the only security solution on the market featuring strong authentication, web access management, mobile access management, identity federation and eSSO functionalities through common architecture and administration.
