ILEX unveils Sign&go 5.0 Enables Identity Federation across Leading Platforms via OAuth 2.0

February 2012 by Marc Jacob

ILEX, a solutions provider specialising in Identity and Access Management (IAM), announces a new version of Sign&go, its widely deployed Single Sign On (SSO) and authentication solution. Sign&go unifies Web Access Management, Enterprise Single Sign-On (eSSO), and Identity Federation in a single solution. The hallmarks of Sign&go 5.0 are innovation, ease of use and flexibility.

Recently, the OAuth2 protocol has become the standard for most leading Web companies such as Facebook, Live ID, DailyMotion and Google. Sign&go 5.0 is one of the few IAM solutions to have integrated OAuth2 authentication, thereby maintaining a significant advance in Identity Federation.

By retrieving the authentication performed on an OAuth2 compatible site, Sign&go 5.0 allows a Web user (who has on average a dozen accounts *), to authenticate themselves only once and to benefit from the first authentication to access other sites. Over and above its ease of use, the solution allows businesses to improve customer loyalty by increasing stickiness. Users of a business’ online services will avoid the constraints of repeated registration and authentication and stay on the site longer.

Another new feature of Sign&go 5.0 is its ability to make use of even more ways of authenticating. Notably, we can mention the ’RFID - Password’ authentication, which allows the use of a single company pass (or ’badge’) offering both physical (example: entry to buildings) and logical (example: access to IT systems) access. This type of use is encountered more and more in large organisations looking to simplify the daily lives of their employees.

Ilex has developed an ’e-SSO’ bridge within Sign&go 5.0. This component allows the problem of SSO on Client/Server applications to be dealt with, using purely Web-style procedures and HTTP. Therefore, with no disruption to service, the user can benefit from SSO via an access portal to local applications managed internally or to applications in SaaS mode published in a public, private or hybrid Cloud.

As a market leader in the Healthcare sector, Ilex has integrated support for the CPS v3 middleware into Sign&go 5.0 in order to provide a solution adapted to the latest technological developments. In the healthcare sector, access to information must be immediate and appropriate, leaving hospital staff to concentrate on the provision of patient care.

As far as eSSO is concerned, eSSO operations on applications can now be influenced by various factors. In practice, the administrator can authorise access to applications under certain conditions. A given user will have, for example, access to a given application according to his or her credentials, the date and time-window, and any other environmental variable, ... A re-authentication can also be imposed on certain applications that are deemed ’sensitive’, by login/password or smartcard for example.

With version 5.0, Ilex wanted to simplify the solution’s implementation. With this objective in mind, the administration of Sign&go 5.0 has been redesigned and new tools added. A new administration interface offers a centralised view of all the components. Administrators can now manage users’ secondary credentials, sponsorship or even produce audit reports with complete ease.

The audit manager provides a number of inventory reports on the use of applications and associated accounts for a given period. As such, Ilex can guarantee its customers the traceability of every access protected by Sign&go 5.0.

Users have not been forgotten in this new version: an application launching tool, in the ’eSSO client’ (user interface) is now available to them. This module centralises all the applications accessible to the employee and allows the user to access them in just a few clicks. It facilitates the use of multiple accounts and provides improved ease of use.

Sign&go 5.0 is available today.
