Gemalto’s Personalization Center in Poland Achieves MasterCard® and Visa Accreditations
January 2008 by Marc Jacob
Gemalto aims to serve the growing market in Poland, with the number of credit cards forecast to more than double from 4.1 million in 2006 to 11 million in 2010, an average annual growth rate exceeding 40%*.
Gemalto announces successful completion of MasterCard® and Visa certifications for its Tczew, Poland, personalization center towards the issuance of EMV (Europay MasterCard Visa) smart banking cards. These accreditations will allow Gemalto to locally support its bank customers in their migration to chip based cards, as rollout is due to start in the coming months. Gemalto’s Tczew facility offers Polish banks a wide range of services including data processing, card personalization and fulfillment. In addition, it provides value-added solutions such as banking cards customized with a personal picture and advanced packaging. The company has already secured contracts with two major Polish banks for EMV personalization and value-added services.
The Gemalto Tczew facility has been personalizing SIM cards for six years and it is now expanding into personalization services of banking cards to address the EMV market in Poland. Gemalto supported financial institutions in their EMV migration in more than 40 countries around the world.
