Emarat Automates Network Security with ForeScout CounterACT, Reaps $80,000 Annual Cost Saving

March 2013 by Marc Jacob

ForeScout Technologies, Inc. announced that Emarat, the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE’s) leading national petroleum brand, has selected ForeScout CounterACT to deliver real-time visibility and automated security control of all users and devices on the corporate network. Since deployment, the network access control (NAC) platform has delivered a rapid payback to Emarat, saving the organisation approximately $80,000 per year.

Wahib M. Yusuf, IT security administrator for Emarat, said, “We chose ForeScout CounterACT because we could see how very easily and efficiently the product worked through their Proof of Concept trial; whereas the other vendors – Cisco and Juniper – were not able to show us that level of integration and functionality. Further, ForeScout provided ease of installation and management, plus their NAC product didn’t require any changes to our network infrastructure, which resulted in additional cost savings.”

Prior to the deployment of CounterACT, Emarat was controlling network access and endpoint compliance more manually, via various log checks and systems updates, which were time and resource consuming. Since deployment, Emarat is able to detect, in real-time, any type of device – wired or wireless, managed, personal or rogue – connecting to the network, while also having the ability to block unauthorised endpoints or limit access to non-compliant devices. In addition, Emarat is using CounterACT to monitor device compliance after network admission, which further reduces network security risks.

“By deploying CounterACT, Emarat immediately started reaping the benefits of real-time visibility across its corporate network. Emarat also needed a NAC solution that would support their plans to allow users to bring their own devices (BYOD) onto the network; CounterACT does this by integrating with the industry’s leading MDM vendors to enable secure and flexible BYOD policies,” said John Hagerty, EMEA sales director for ForeScout.
