Egenera Extends PAN Manager Functionality for the Fujitsu Primergy BX900 to Include vBlades Software

July 2011 by Marc Jacob

Egenera announced that the company has extended the functionality of Egenera(R) PAN Manager(R) Software for the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 to include vBlades. Egenera vBlade software, broadly used by the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BladeFrame BF400/BF200 installed base, allows customers to manage physical and virtual servers from a single administrative console. This means that PRIMERGY BX900 server customers can now use PAN Manager Software to deliver automated high availability and disaster recovery to any application on both physical and virtual servers.

By extending Egenera’s PAN Manager with vBlade Software to the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900, Egenera is providing customers with a clear path to the latest generation of high performance Fujitsu PRIMERGY blade servers. Expanding vBlades to the BX900 platform not only helps to protect customers’ PRIMERGY BladeFrame investments, but also enables IT administrators to leverage their training while transitioning to the latest hardware platform. To further assist customers in updating their PAN Manager environments, Egenera is providing tools and programs for the migration and integration of PRIMERGY BladeFrame BF400/BF200 and Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900.

Egenera PAN Manager Software

PAN Manager Software (based on the Egenera Processing Area Network concept) uses standard servers and I/O to create dynamic server, networking and storage pools that can be easily re-allocated. PAN combines the simplification benefits of unified computing with integrated high availability and disaster recovery services for physical and virtual servers. The result is a resilient and self-healing infrastructure that provides massive operational efficiencies. With more than 10 years of proven performance, PAN Manager is deployed at over 1,600 sites globally. The software is currently certified on servers from Dell, Egenera, Fujitsu and HP and storage from 3PAR, Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, HDS, HP, IBM, NetApp and others.
