EMC named 19th best multinational workplace in Europe

June 2012 by Marc Jacob

EMC has announced that it has been named the 19th Best Multinational Workplace in Europe by Great Place to Work, the experts in workplace excellence. EMC was awarded the position at the official unveiling of Great Place to Work’s ‘Best Workplaces in Europe 2012’, held last night in Berlin. EMC was the 4th highest ranking large company from the technology sector to make the list.

The annual benchmarking study celebrates businesses operating in Europe that have demonstrated exceptional levels of respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie within their organisations. Businesses are judged on the basis of Great Place to Work’s confidential Trust Index survey of employees as well as audits of HR and management processes across their European operations. This included an analysis of how EMC’s work practices compare to other multinational companies in areas including inspiring, speaking, listening, thanking, developing, celebrating, caring, sharing and hiring.

EMC’s award is based on excellent results in geographies across Europe. In Ireland, it was ranked the 4th Best Workplace, and also picked up the Best Leader award for Bob Savage, VP of EMC Ireland. Similarly high placements were achieved in other major European countries, including:

· France – 7th

· UK – 13th

· Italy – 18th

· Germany – 28th

Across the region, EMC’s strongest performing areas included justice (lack of discrimination and process for appeals), pride (both in work produced as teams and as individuals) and support for professional development and showing appreciation of employees. Overall, the vast majority of EMC’s employees stated that they thought the company is a great place to work.
