E-SAFE 100 is a ‘Staple’ for security

September 2008 by Marc Jacob

Innovative new technology company Knowledge Online is delighted to announce that ‘Staples UK’ has signed up to roll out the new technology application to radically improve its loss prevention auditing on all its stores.

With 136 outlets, Staples UK wanted to speed up and improve the analysis of their audit processes, particularly in the area of loss prevention. Their team of Loss Prevention Officers (LPOs) visit the stores to conduct audits at regular intervals - the frequency of each audit being determined by the store’s risk rating. E-SAFE 100 has replicated the paper-based audit forms and scoring matrix previously used by the inspectors.

Using their PDA phones loaded with E-SAFE 100, the LPOs are able to document audits quickly and record photographic evidence of issues using the one piece of hardware. Furthermore, there is no need to get the laptop out at each store, as E-SAFE 100 formats and distributes the report from the PDA.

The use of E-SAFE 100 for loss prevention auditing is a departure from the traditional safety environment but is testimony to the flexibility of the application to be able to work so well in this new sector with auditing requirements.

Benefits for Staples:

· auditors travel light - no need for a laptop, phone and camera

· big time saving for auditors with automatic formatting and distribution of reports

· accessible reference data and scoring information on the PDA

· detailed management information and reporting from a central database

· website clearly benchmarks stores - helps with risk rating

· management can monitor the audit progress online

· green element – reduces the amount of paper used
