Check Point Rises to the Top Position in Worldwide Combined Firewall and UTM Appliance Market According to IDC

Check Point has announced that the latest IDC Tracker research data positions Check Point as the number one vendor in worldwide combined Firewall and UTM appliance revenue for Q2 2012.
Check Point has achieved a major milestone by becoming the top vendor while bypassing one of the world’s largest network hardware companies.
Data in the latest IDC Worldwide Q2 2012 Security Appliance Tracker indicated:
– Check Point leads the global market with 20.9% Firewall and UTM appliance revenue share
– Check Point is the overall leader in Firewall and UTM appliance revenue for Q2 2012
– Check Point is the leader in Firewall and UTM factory revenue in US with 22.1% share and Western Europe with 29.8% share.
– Check Point is the leader in Firewall and UTM factory revenue in the $25K-$50k and $50k-$100K price bands
IDC defines firewalls as appliances that have as their primary function general-purpose filtering of networking traffic through packet filtering, stateful inspection, or proxy. UTM appliances combine at a minimum network firewalling, network intrusion detection and prevention, and gateway antivirus (AV) onto a single device, though other functions may also be included as well.
