Brainwave named 2013 Gartner “Cool Vendors” in Security

May 2013 by Marc Jacob

Brainwave, a provider of Identity Analytics and Intelligence solution has been named “Cool Vendor” in Gartner’s Security Report1 for Identity and Access Management 2013.
Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn’t do before; Impactful, have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); Intriguing, have caught Gartner’s interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.

Brainwave’s Identity GRC product is a turnkey solution for the audit and compliance control of user entitlements in the Information System. It analyzes and correlates all information about the users, their organizations, their entitlements, their access logs and their theoretical rights in order to provide a comprehensive map of all the people working for the company, their duties and their access. Thanks to its patented analytics engine, it streamlines security and compliance controls such as security policies and segregation of duties, and automatically highlights all the discrepancies and the associated risks.

What makes the solution unique is the mix of its B.I. approach leveraged by a strong data model, its patented analytics engine and its powerful agentless data-sources collection. This approach dramatically reduces the time required to deliver value to the customers and is key to provide rich and meaningful reports for Business users. Brainwave is a must have for all companies struggled with compliance constraints, huge amount of users and applications, or all companies who want to take advantage of the Cloud and who don’t want to lose the control of the security of their data. As of today, the solution has been deployed by top banks and insurances in Europe.

“We are very proud of being named Cool Vendor in Security” said Sébastien Faivre, Brainwave’s CEO. “After having been included in the Gartner IAG Magic Quadrant, late 2012, this new recognition by Gartner is for us confirmation of our mission to focus on Identity Intelligence to provide advanced analytics and insights to our customers. Cloud transformation implies that your IT assets are no longer protected by the physical boundaries of your offices, which means that it’s now a must have to know who is working for you and who can access to your systems, whether they are in premise or in the Cloud. Thanks to our unique approach, we leverage data from all the IT silos in order to provide a comprehensive map of all the people and all their entitlements, even fine-grained ones such as sharepoint elements, files shares or transactions. Our analytics engine automatically highlights all the discrepancies and delivers this information to business people in charge of those assets. All of this is delivered in a matter of weeks. We are convinced that, due to the tremendous amount of data and the Cloud transformation, the future of IT security is in data analytics as the key is to extract from all of these the right information for the right people, at the right time, in order to help them to take the right decisions”.
