Boston Consulting Group’s reaction to UK firms neglecting cyber threats

“As recent research from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) revealed a lack of cybersecurity engagement among UK business leaders, Miri Marciano, Associate Director at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) comments on the steps business need to take towards mitigating threats.”
"The vast expansion of digital services has increased the attack surface and provided hackers with additional opportunities. As a result, cybercrime has become a convenient, easy, and profitable method. Each company must increase its own prevention, monitoring and detection capabilities, as well as its incident response and recovery procedures for dealing with security breaches quickly and effectively.
"Training and making sure there’s a strategy in place is key. Leaders must educate the C-level as well as every employee in order to assist them in better understanding the dangers that cybercriminals pose on a regular basis. Tabletop exercises are an essential part of this process because they help boards of directors and staff understand what may go wrong in the event of a cyberattack and what actions they should take in response.”
